Rod Stewart
With one of rock's most distinctive voices, Rod Stewart has enjoyed a career like few others. Since the 1960s, Stewart has managed to sell an estimated 250 million singles and albums both as a solo artist and member of the Faces and The Jeff Beck Group, among others.
Stewart was the first artist to reach the number one singles and album charts simultaneously in the UK and US with the song 'Maggie May' and the album Every Picture Tells a Story. Stewart scored six consecutive number one albums in the UK through the 1970s, the decade in which he found his greatest success.
Throughout his career, Stewart has reinvented himself many times and produced material that encompasses many different styles of music, including folk, rock, soul, disco, new wave, swing and blues. As well as performing many self-penned compositions, Stewart is regarded as one of music's finest interpreters of other artists' material. In recent years, he has found great success with the Great American Songbook, a series of albums that sees Stewart performing pop standards from the 1930s and 1940s.
While his recording career has seen a fair amount of peaks and troughs, Stewart has maintained a steady reputation for his energetic and engaging live performances.
