Pete Murray
Born in Queensland, Pete was your average sporty kid, and considered studying sports medicine after high school, however his musical talents took him in another direction. When a knee injury prevented him from playing any more rugby, he had time on his hands to hone his guitar skills. After playing a few gigs around Brisbane and building up his confidence, he recorded the independent album The Game, before moving to Melbourne in 2002 and signing with Sony.
2003 saw the recording and release of sophomore album Feeler. Single So Beautiful from the album was picked up by commercial radio and saw Murray break into the pop charts. Feeler went on to go triple platinum by July 2004.
After extensive touring to promote Feeler, 2005 saw Murray return to the studio with band The Stonemasons to record See the Sun. Looking for more edge on this album he enlisted the services of producer Eric Safarine whose credits include Ben Harper.
Murray's style is best described as a soulful mix of blues and rock, with a rootsy honesty fuelled by strong acoustic guitar.
