Jose Gonzalez
Jose Gonzalez was born in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1978 to Argentinean parents.
An established star in his native Scandinavia since 2003, Jose Gonzalez has released an EP, Crosses (UK, Feb 2005) and an album Veneer (Europe 2003, the rest of the world 2005).
Jose tried his hand at various styles of music before he settled on creating achingly emotional melodies with his classical guitar. He began by playing bass in a black-flag inspired rock group Back Against The Wall, played bass in hardcore band Gotherburg's Renascence and went indie in Only If You Call Me Jonathan.
Jose recorded his debut album at home on basic equipment and gained quick success in Sweden. He was signed to indie UK label Peacefrog who released Veneer in the UK and USA in 2005. By 2006 he had toured internationally for a year and even opened for the Dalai Lama in Sweden.
Jose has a talent for creating unique and intriguing covers including Kylie's Hand on Your Heart, Massive Attack's Teardrop and Joy Division's Love Will Tear us Apart
Heartbeats, another cover, this time of fellow Swede's The Knife, brought Jose to the masses by way of a television commercial for a high profile electronics company and is featured on his album.
Jose also plays in the band Junip with Tobias Winterkorn and Elias Araya. They have released an EP Black Refuge.
